Life and work
Introduction
Mohammad Nawaz Taer was born in the historic village of Thana, Malakand, in 1934. He completed advanced study in Pashto, Persian, and geography.
He joined the Pashto Academy at the University of Peshawar in 1957 and directed it from 1989 to 1995. A poet, critic, translator, historian, and folklorist, he authored more than one hundred books and died in 2017.
A prolific scholar spanning modern Pashto poetry, research, translation, and folklore.
