Life and work

Introduction

Sahibzada Habib-ur-Rahman Qalandar Momand was born near Peshawar in Bazid Khel on 1 September 1930. He worked as a poet, short-story writer, journalist, lawyer, linguist, and literary critic.

Sabaun and Ranai are among his poetry collections. He also produced a Pashto dictionary, fiction, translations, and critical studies of major texts including Pata Khazana and Khayr al-Bayan.

A versatile modernist, rigorous critic, and major progressive voice in Pashto literature.
