Life and work

Introduction

Ajmal Khattak was a major twentieth-century Pashto poet, writer, journalist, and politician. Born in Akora Khattak, he spent much of his life in literary and political struggle.

His poetry addresses social justice, popular life, resistance, progress, and Pashtun identity. He wrote numerous works of poetry and prose in Pashto and Urdu.

One of the most influential popular voices in modern revolutionary Pashto poetry.
