Life and work
Introduction
Sulaiman Layeq was born near Sharana on 13 October 1930 and died on 31 July 2020. He wrote poetry and prose in both Pashto and Dari.
His Pashto poetry books include Chunghar, Kegdai, Yadona aw Darmandona, Sahil, and Sparghakai. His writing is closely engaged with modern history, homeland, social change, and personal experience.
A major bilingual Pashto and Dari poet and writer in twentieth-century Afghan literature.

هېر کړه اشنا دا تېر عمرونه هېر کړه
وی بــه مــلا جــان چــی زه ورځـمـه کـا بـل جان ګټم
