4. The twenty-third letter of the Arabic, and the twenty-seventh of the Persian, is the thirty-fourth letter of the Puś̱ẖto alphabet, and corresponds to Sanskrit ल. It is one of the dental letters, and is equivalent to English l. It stands for 30 according to the Arabic system of letters for numbers
5. A letter the sign of the infinitive of many Puś̱ẖto verbs, which are for the most part pure, and not deducible from any noun or adjective. The other infinitive affixes are یدل and ول. See my Grammar, page 62
